'The Search For Meaning' by Viktor Frankl
In 1942 Frankl and his family were deported from Austria by the Nazis to a ghetto in Czechoslovakia and then concentration camps. Here Frankl was stripped of his identity and humanity from the treatment he received at the hands of his captors. Frankl credits his survival in the camps by centering on the belief that humand can overcome suffering by finding meaning and a sense of purpose in every moment. The book was written after his liberation from the camps.
